Uttara Baokar Passes Away: Famous television and film industry actress Uttara Baokar has passed away. The actress took her last breath at the age of 79 at Pune’s hospital. Uttara was ill for a long time, and the actress passed away on Tuesday. Her entire family is mourning her death.

Uttara Baokar honoured with the National Award

Actress Uttara Baokar has received the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for Mrinal Sen’s film ‘Ek Din Achanak’. In the year 1984, Baokar was also honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

At the same time, filmmaker Sunil Sukthankar said that he worked with her in about eight feature films and her longtime collaborator Sumitra Bhave considered her one of the best actresses who could portray strong female characters.

Uttara Baokar was the Best Actress

Also remembering Baokar, Sunil Sukthankar said, “She played a variety of female roles in our films and was a disciplined actress, she had a no-nonsense attitude on the set.” At the same time, there is a wave of mourning from the television to the film industry due to the death of Uttara Baokar.

Uttara Baokar’s films

The actress played an important role in Govind Nihalani’s film ‘Tamas’, after which the actress worked in many films in a career spanning more than five decades. Uttara is also well known for Mrinal Sen’s films like ‘Ek Din Achanak’, ‘Uttarayan’, ‘Rukmavati Ki Haveli’, ‘The Burning Season’, ‘Doghi’, ‘Thakshak’ and ‘Sardari Begum’.

Uttara has also worked in television, she appeared in many shows like ‘Udaan’, ‘Antaral’, ‘X Zone’, ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi’, ‘Kashmakash Zindagi Ki’, ‘Rishtey’ and ‘Jab Love Hua’. 

At the same time, Uttara was also a very popular face of theatre and also done many brilliant plays like Mukhyamantri, Mena Gurjari, Girish Karnad’s Tughlaq and Umrao Jaan.
