Television actress and comedian Priya Marathe, best known for her role as Varsha Satish in Pavitra Rishta, passed away in Mumbai on August 31, 2025, after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was 38 years old. News of her untimely demise has left colleagues and fans shocked.
Actress Ankita Lokhande, who shared the screen with Priya in the hit TV series Pavitra Rishta, shared a deeply emotional note on Instagram. Calling Priya her “first friend from Pavitra Rishta,” she remembered the special bond they shared.
She wrote, “Me, Prarthana and Priya.. our little gang… it always felt so wholesome when we were together.
Priya, Prats and I lovingly called each other wedee in Marathi, and that bond was truly special.”
Ankita further recalled how Priya stood by her in both good and bad times, adding, “She was there in my good days and held me through my sad days… never once missing to show up when I needed her. She never missed attending the Gauri Maha Aarti during Ganpati Bappa, and this year, I’ll pray for your soul there, my wedee… while missing you dearly.”
She concluded with a heartfelt message: “Priya was the strongest she fought every battle with so much courage. Aaj ti nahiye amchya sobat, and it breaks my heart to even write this. Losing her is a reminder that we really never know the battles someone is fighting behind their smile. So, be kind… always. Priya, my dear wedee, you will always live in my heart and in my memories. Thank you for every laugh, every tear, every moment. Until we meet again… Om Shanti”

Who Was Priya Marathe?
Priya was born on April 23, 1987, in Mumbai, where she also completed her studies before joining the entertainment industry. She started her career with Marathi serials like Ya Sukhanoya and Char Divas Sasuche. Later, she entered Hindi television with Balaji Telefilms’ Kasamh Se and also showed her comic side in the first season of Comedy Circus.
Her role as Varsha Satish in Zee TV’s Pavitra Rishta made her widely popular. Over the years, she appeared in many well known shows, including Bade Acche Lagte Hain, Tu Tithe Me, Bhaage Re Mann, Jayastute, and Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap. Priya married actor Shantanu Moghe in 2012.
