Two accused who allegedly provided firearms and ammunition to five men in connection to the homicide of Haryanvi pop singer Rahul Yadav alias Fazilpuria were arrested in Najafgarh in Delhi on Sunday night, police stated on Monday.
The suspects were identified as Sudeep Kumar, 28, of Bakhta Khera in Jind, and Shakti (one name), 26, of Gopalpur in Delhi. “The two men supplied two 9mm PX5 pistols with Turkish origins and ammunition to the five accused persons who were arrested by the special task force and a crime branch, a few days ago, based on an encounter near Wazirpur village on Pataudi Road on August 27. The five accused were planning to kill Fazilpuria, when they had come to police attention. During the encounter with the STF and the crime branch, four accused were shot in the legs and one surrendered without any resistance,” said Sandeep Kumar, public relations officer of Gurugram Police.
“It was from the interrogation of these five suspects that the names of Sudeep and Shakti had surfaced,” Kumar said. Kumar stated. He mentioned that the firearms provided by the two men were also utilized in the murder of the singer’s assistant/financier Rohit Shokeen, who was killed in Sector-77 on August 4. “The same weapons were used in firing on the singer that had taken place in Sector-71 on the night of July 14,” Kumar said.
The two arrested arms suppliers had been remanded to police custody for two days of questioning. “From the duo’s interrogation, it will become clear who had supplied them the Turkish manufactured pistols,” Police said that the pistols, valued at around ₹6 lakh on the market, were the same weapons recovered during the investigation of Shokeen’s killing.
Investigators also stated that the arms suppliers were working in connections with gangsters Sunil Sardhaniya and Deepak Nandal, who are reported to be hiding abroad. The police also stated that there are already three illegal firearm possession cases registered against Sudeep in Jind.
