Famed TV actor Ashish Kapoor was arrested in Pune after a woman accused him of raping her during a house party in Delhi last month. Police confirmed that the two had met on Instagram and that the incident occurred at the party. The woman initially alleged multiple attackers but later named only Kapoor.
An FIR for the case was filed on August 11, with charges updated from gang rape to rape. According to media reports, investigators traced Kapoor’s movements from Delhi to Goa and eventually to Pune, where he was apprehended.
An earlier report had claimed that Kapoor, who hosted the party, along with two unidentified men, had raped the woman, while another woman had physically assaulted her. However, the victim later revised her statement and accused only Kapoor of rape.
As per a Times Now report, CCTV footage and witness testimonies, according to investigating officers, show Kapoor and the woman entering a washroom together. When they did not emerge, guests reportedly began knocking on the door.
The complainant also alleged that the assault had been filmed, but police stated that no such footage had been recovered so far.
