Travis Kelce father Ed Kelce has given insight into the romantic proposal of son Travis Kelce to Taylor Swift, sharing fresh details about when and where the NFL player popped the question to the pop star. From Ed, it is that Travis proposed almost two weeks ago a confirmation of Page Six’s previous exclusive on the engagement date.
Though Ed initially stated that the proposal occurred in a Lee’s Summit, Missouri, garden, Page Six subsequently discovered that the actual scene was much nearer to home: the yard of Travis’ home in Leawood, Kansas. The 74-year-old Ed stated that he received the joyful news soon after the proposal, when he received a phone call from the couple during an Eagles open practice session.
“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’ … They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful,” Ed told ABC News 5 Cleveland on Tuesday.
“He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.
“And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”
“They started FaceTiming me and their mother [Donna Kelce] and her folks [mom Andrea Swift and dad Scott Swift] to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great,” he said.
“I got a FaceTime call from them, and as soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him, I knew what they were going to say, and they, you know, let us know,” he said.
The two were seen totally besotted in images of their special day, hugging and kissing each other while joyfully commemorating the special moment.
As part of the celebrations, Travis gave Taylor a breathtaking bespoke engagement ring. He worked with jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine to create a bespoke sparkler that had an old mine brilliant-cut diamond set inside a traditional gold bezel.
