Trade Talk: All Eyes On Aamir Khan’s Sublime Ode To Normalcy

Sitaare Zameen Par will release in theatres on June 20, 2025. Apart from Aamir Khan, the movie also stars Genelia D’souza in the lead role.

Aamir Khan is not sleeping much these days. His Sitaare Zameen Par is only hours away from release. And he is wondering if the film’s substantial emotional heft will bring the audience in.

The film trade certainly thinks so.

Roshan Singh, a leading film exhibitor of Bihar, feels Taare Zameen Par has the potential to crack the box office without trying too hard. “The audience trusts Aamir. He may not have scored with his last film (Lal Singh Chadha). But that was a film that failed to connect with the audience. Taare Zameen Par’s theme of normalizing autism is an outright winner.”

Producer Prerna Arora has already booked her ticket for Friday morning. “There are no shows early in the morning. Or else I’d have been at the theatre at 9 am. I would jump through a fire, wade though slush, swim through a river to see an Aamir Khan film. And I know lots of people agree with me.”

Nagarjuna, whose own action film Kuberaa is releasing alongside Aamir’s Sitaare Zameen Par this week, is all for Aamir’s film. “I love everything he does. I loved Lal Singh Chadha also. And I look forward to Sitaare Zameen Par. Our Kuberaa is a completely different experience from Taare Zameen Par. I wish both films to do well.”
