Tourist Family, a critically acclaimed Tamil comedy film, has released in theatres and has been receiving a good response due to the performances and plot. The movie is set against the backdrop of economic challenges in Sri Lanka and focuses on a Sri Lankan Tamil family, who goes on a journey for a better and secure future. Even though Tourist Family is still running in theatres, there is a buzz around its OTT release.
According to reports, Tourist Family will release on JioHotstar this month or in June 2025. There is reportedly a month window to its OTT release and is likely to arrive online on May 30.
The movie stars M. Sasikumar, Simran, Mithun Jai Sankar and Kamalesh in the lead roles.
In an interview with OTTplay, director Abishan Jeevinth talked about making Tourist Family amd its process. He said, “Even if there are some tiring moments, it is for this that I have worked so hard for the longest time. I am taking it as happy moments.”
He added, “But due to COVID, inevitably, many problems came, and it couldn’t be mounted. After that, the spark for this project came. I had an idea to make Thenali 2. From that, I got certain fresh elements which paved the way for Tourist Family.”

Talking about the characters, he added, “Sasikumar sir’s characters are often rugged and valiant onscreen, but here, he is very soft, and a pookie. I found that contrast very likeable. Similarly, with Simran mam, we wanted to bring her back like in Panchathanthiram, because there is humour, and emotions. No one could have pulled off Vaaranam Aayiram like her, and with the pairing also fresh, we proceeded.”
Yogi Babu, M. S. Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, Bagavathi Perumal, Elango Kumaravel and Sreeja Ravi are seen in pivotal roles.
