While receiving praise for its films, the Malayalam film industry got a huge backlash due to Hema Committee Report. The report talked about the sexual harassment and discrimination faced by women in the film industry. The horrendous details of the casting couch, sexual harassment, lack of basic amenities for women, and unfair remuneration were also mentioned. Murder Case On Darshan Thoogudeepa
Popular Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa shook his fans and the film industry after he was arrested in connection to the murder of Renuka Swamy. According to the police, the body of the victim was discovered in a drain near the Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru. Investigations suggest that Renuka Swamy had sent offensive texts to Darshan’s co-star and girlfriend, Pavithra Gowda.
Nayanthara Vs Dhanush Over Copyright
Nayanthara openly called out Dhanush for sending her a legal notice of Rs 10 crore over the use of footage from the film ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ in her Netflix documentary. The two have worked together in films and were also good friends. But Nayanthara’s open letter to Dhanush shocked their fans. In her letter, she wrote, “What’s even more shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer of the Netflix Documentary. We were startled to read those lines wherein you questioned the usage of some videos (just 3 seconds) which were shot in our personal devices and that too BTS visuals that are already very much publicly present on social media and claimed a sum of Rs.10 crores as damages for the mere 3 seconds. This is an all time low from you and speaks so much about your character. I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage in audio launches in front of your innocent fans but clearly you do not practice what you preach, at least not for me and my partner.”
Pushpa 2 Stampede Death And Allu Arjun’s Arrest
‘Pushpa 2’ has become a massive success at the box office but also got involved in a controversy. On December 4, a woman died at Sandhya theatre in Hyderabad due to stampede after Allu Arjun visited the screening. An 8-year-old boy named Sri Tej has also been critically injured. Allu Arjun was later arrested in connection to woman’s death but was released on an interim bail. Meanwhile, the actor announced the donation of Rs 25 lakhs to the victim’s family.
Kangana Ranaut Slapped By CISF Officer
In July 2024, actor-politician Kangana Ranaut was slapped by the CISF constable during a security check at the Chandigarh airport. The constable was reportedly upset over the actress’ past comments on farmers’ protest. Later, the constable Kulwinder Kaur was reportedly transferred to a unit in Bengaluru pending a disciplinary inquiry.

Producer Vashu Bhagnani Vs Director Ali Abbas Zafar Over BMCM Debacle
Producer Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment and filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar teamed up for the action movie ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. The movie bombed at the box office, which lead to several controversies. Vashu Bhagnani reportedly filed a complaint against Zafar and co-producer Himanshu Mehra, accusing them of fraud, forgery, criminal breach of trust, cheating, and misappropriation of crores of rupees. Prior to that, Zafar accused the production house of non-payment of his dues.
