Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first-time anti-hero release, ‘Thunderbolts’, opens in theatres and is enjoying a successful theatrical run. The film is receiving worldwide appreciation. Thunderbolts is being called the best in years from the Marvel franchise. However, the film is still behind Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World in terms of box office collection.
According to Box Office Mojo, Thunderbolts earned a total of $162 million. Breaking down the earnings, the film opened with a collection of $86.1 million worldwide and $76 million in North America. Before the release of the film, Thunderbolts was estimated to open with around $150 million, but due to its early release in many places as Southeast Asia and India, the film became highly successful and earned more than it was predicted.
Thunderbolts has earned around Rs 14.20 crore at the Indian box office by day 4, as the audience seems to enjoy the film.
Thunderbolts Remains Behind Captain America
Although Thunderbolts’ release has taken the world by storm, the record of Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World is intact, with the box office opening collection of $192 million. Captain America was released on 14th February, 2025. The star cast of the film featured Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Xosha Roquemore, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson and Harrison Ford.
Thunderbolts is receiving praises across the world and has the potential to break the record of Captain America: Brave New World. As Marvel’s Captain America only made $415 million worldwide, even after the blockbuster opening. Unlike Captain America: Brave New World, which faced criticism, Thunderbolts is garnering favourable reviews and it is not impossible for the film to break Captain America’s world record.
Thunderbolts is released on May 1, 2025, under the production of Marvel Studios. The film is directed by Jake Schreier and the cast of the film includes Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, Wendell Pierce, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
