Thug Life also stars Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Rohit Saraf, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sanya Malhotra and Baburaj.
In an interview with OTTplay, Kamal Haasan talked about his collaboration with Mani Ratnam after Nayakan. He said, “Both of us have evolved. It is not the same Mani Ratnam, nor the same Kamal Haasan who acted in that film. AR Rahman is also not the same music director who scored for Roja. If it is not like that, then it is wrong. We are proud that we have evolved over time and have not remained in the same place.”
He added, “Our motive was to make a film which will not remind you of Nayakan, and that is what we have strived for.”
The movie is also involved in a controversy after Kamal Haasan said that ‘Kannada is born out Tamil’ at an event. This led to Thug Life being banned in Karnataka.
