Thug Life Box Office Collection Day 7: Kamal Haasan’s Film Crawls Through Week 1, Fails To Cross Rs 50 Cr! See Figures

Thug Life opened to an impressive Rs 15.5 crore on Day 1 but faced steep drops in the following days.

Expectations were towering for Thug Life, which marks the much awaited reunion of director Mani Ratnam and actor Kamal Haasan after their cult classic ‘Nayakan’ in 1987. Despite the pre release buzz, the film faced a major setback after it wasn’t released in Karnataka due to the ongoing controversy after Haasan’s remarks on the Kannada language.

The movie received a mixed response from the audience and has shown an underwhelming performance at the box office, as it struggles to even reach Rs 50 Cr Mark. Check the box office collection of Thug Life in seven days.

Thug Life Box Office Collection Day 7:

Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life saw a dip in momentum as it completed its first week at the box office. According to early estimates, the film collected Rs 1.25 crore on Day 7, bringing its total first week collection to Rs 42.25 crore across all languages.

It opened strong on Day 1 with a collection of Rs 15.5 crore, however, Day 2 saw a sharp drop of 53.87%, collecting Rs 7.15 crore. The film witnessed a slight recovery on Day 3 with Rs 7.75 crore, marking an 8.39% increase. Day 4 saw another dip to Rs 6.5 crore, and collections declined further on Day 5 to Rs 2.3 crore, registering a 64.62% drop. The downward trend continued on Day 6, as the film collected just Rs 1.8 crore, a 21.74% fall from the previous day.

The film was expected to face a loss of Rs 35-40 crore in gross box office collections and Rs 12-15 crore in distributor share due to its ban in Karnataka, as per a report by The Hindu.

The controversy erupted at the audio launch of the film Thug Life in Chennai, Haasan opened with an emotional tribute to his Tamil roots, saying, “Uyire Urave Tamizhe” meaning ‘My life and my family is Tamil’. Turning to Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar, who shared the stage with him, Haasan added, “Your language was born out of Tamil. So, you are included in that line.”

It also stars Trisha, Silambarasan, Abhirami, Sanya Malhotra, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf and Vaiyapuri.
