Suniel Shetty parised cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues for standing firmly beside her teammate and close friend Smriti Mandhana, at a time when speculation around Mandhana’s personal life has been dominating social media chatter. Over the past few days, several portals have floated unverified reports hinting at a delay or possible cancellation of Smriti Mandhana’s wedding to composer Palash Muchhal.
On Friday, Suniel Shetty shared a newspaper article on X (formerly Twitter) titled “Jemimah opts out of WBBL to be by Mandhana’s side.” Along with the clipping, he wrote a heartfelt note: “Bumped into this article first thing in the morning and my heart felt full. Jemimah leaving the WBBL to be by Smriti’s side. No big statements, just quiet solidarity. This is what real teammates do. Simple. Straight. Genuine.”

What sparked the speculation about Smriti and Palash?
Palaash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana’s wedding, scheduled for November 23, was called off just hours before the ceremony, with both families citing a sudden medical emergency involving Smriti’s father. But soon after, social media was flooded with unverified cheating rumours, leaked chats, and screenshots, turning the postponement into a major online controversy.
After the wedding was postponed, fans noticed that Smriti deleted her engagement and proposal videos from Instagram. This sparked even more talk online, with many people guessing that something serious might have happened. Soon after Smriti’s removed all the engagment photos from Instagram, several Reddit posts claimed that Palaash was involved with a choreographer from the pre wedding events. One user said a woman had shared “flirty chats” between the two.
So far, neither Smriti nor Palash has made any official statement about the postponed wedding.
