The Kashmir Files: Vivek Agnihotri challenges critics to prove if any context of the film is false

The Kashmir Files Row: Amid the ongoing row regarding The Kashmir Files, Vivek Agnihotri challenged the intellectuals to prove if any of the scenes or context in the film is false. Speaking to ANI, the director of the film said, “Who are these people who always stand against India?…I challenge all intellectuals of the world to prove if any scene, dialogue or event shown in the film is false, then I will quit film-making.”

He further said, “For me, this is not new, as many terrorist orgs, urban naxals & those who want to divide India say. I’m surprised that such a narrative was supported on a stage at an event by GoI.”

For the uninitiated, on Monday night, while addressing the IFFI event, Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid, this year’s jury head, said he was ‘disturbed’ to watch The Kashmir Files and termed it propaganda.

The director of the film Vivek Agnihotri did not directly reacted to this statement. Rather, he tweeted a cryptic post on Tuesday. He tweeted, “GM (good morning). Truth is the most dangerous thing. It can make people lie. #CreativeConsciousness.”

According to ANI, the organisers of the event refused to say anything on the matter. Meanwhile, the lead actor of the film Anupam Kher, speaking on the matter said, “It seems pre-planned as immediately after that the toolkit gang became active. It’s shameful for him to make a statement like this. Jews have suffered Holocaust and he comes from that community. For him to make such a statement, he has also pained those people who have been victims of this tragedy many years ago. May God give him wisdom so that he does not further his agenda on stage using the sufferings of thousands.”
