According to several reports, Dharmendra was the highest-paid actor on the sets, receiving Rs 1.5 lakh for his portrayal of Veeru. Sanjeev Kumar, who portrayed Thakur Baldev Singh, was paid Rs 1.25 lakh, while Amitabh Bachchan received Rs 1 lakh for his role. The menacing yet unforgettable Gabbar Singh, played by Amjad Khan, earned Rs 50,000. Among the leading ladies, Hema Malini was paid Rs 75,000, whereas Jaya Bachchan received Rs 35,000. Interestingly, it was Dharmendra who had recommended Bachchan for the role.
