The trailer focuses on Sergeant John Kinley (played by Jake Gyllenhaal), a US army officer who experiences memory loss after surviving a head injury on the battlefield in Afghanistan following a skirmish with the Taliban. He has no recollection of anything save his saviour Ahmed, an Afghan interpreter. After a Taliban assailant injures John Kinley, Ahmed saves him, cares for him, and eventually assists him in travelling across mountains to safely return home. Later, after learning that Ahmed and his family were denied entry to America, John chooses to re-enter the conflict zone in order to find and save them.
