This Friday, September 5, saw the release of three major films at the Indian box office including Hollywood horror The Conjuring: Last Rites, Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt’s action packed Baaghi 4, and Vivek Agnihotri’s political drama The Bengal Files starring Mithun Chakraborty.
The release of ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ feels like the end of an era to fans, the horror blockbuster marks the ninth and final chapter of the Conjuring Universe, directed by Michael Chaves. It has been a big part of pop culture for over a decade and became a huge success.
The film has largely garnered positive reactions on X (formerly Twitter), with only a few negative takes in between. Many viewers are praising it for its gripping atmosphere and emotional depth, while a handful feel it doesn’t quite match up to the earlier instalments.
Here’s how audiences are reacting online:

not as scary but it def felt more personal (can’t spoil why) than other movies. i would put it 3rd-ish fav conjuring for that reason at least. unlikely but wish for a spin-off around judy warren’s.
annabelle was also in our cinema?? pic.twitter.com/qCRiQkhQhZ

Watching #ConjuringTheLastRites in theaters was a great experience. The story alone is the best of the series. The movie overall isn’t the best in the series that still belongs to the first one for me. But I appreciate the callbacks and jump scares. Great ending to a franchise

This was very mediocre. It’s a good send off to the Patrick and Vera. Just not scary and not a worthy horror film when we have so many creative ones nowadays.https://t.co/diCZMEtWcU pic.twitter.com/WFpe4ILq5Z
Box Office Predictions:
In India, the film has stormed past local releases, expected to collect Rs 15-20 crore on its opening day alone. Trade experts suggest it may become the first Hollywood horror film to cross Rs 100 crore in India a historic milestone.
Globally, the film is also exceeding expectations. Warner Bros. had projected a cautious Rs 35 million domestic opening, but industry estimates are now tracking Rs 55 million+ in the US, alongside an additional Rs 50 million across 66 overseas markets, setting it up for a Rs 100 million+ worldwide debut.
