This strong performance comes after the film’s strong opening weekend, which saw it cross the ₹50.5 crore nett mark in three days. So far, the film’s total net collection has reached ₹61.18 crore and gross ₹60.40 crore. This is believed to be the biggest opening ever for a Hollywood horror film in India.

New record Close For Franchise

‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ is very close to ‘The Conjuring 2’s ₹61.80 crore record in India. Earlier this year, ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ broke that record by earning ₹62.12 crore. Given the current momentum, Last Rites could soon surpass both these films.

Language-Wise Collections

The English version of the film earned ₹33.34 crore, while the Hindi dub contributed ₹24.38 crore. The Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions earned ₹2.51 crore and ₹95 lakh respectively. Thus, the total collection from regional languages was ₹3.46 crore.

Horror Film Overshadows Desi Films

‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ has taken over domestic films and is leading the box office. Tiger Shroff’s ‘Baaghi 4’ has earned ₹39.75 crores in five days, while Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Bengal Files’ has reached ₹9.19 crores. The earnings of both these films have declined during the weekdays, while Last Rites’ momentum is intact.

Record-Breaking Opening Worldwide

Internationally, ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ has recorded the biggest opening of horror films till date. The ninth film in Warner Bros. and New Line’s supernatural universe earned $194 million worldwide in its first weekend, breaking the record of 2017 film ‘It’ of $190 million.

Of this earning, $110 million has come from the overseas market, which is a new international record for the horror genre. Including films like ‘The Nun’ and ‘Annabelle’, ‘The Conjuring’ franchise is now the most successful horror series in history with a total gross of over $2.3 billion.
