New Delhi: This Diwali is going to see two of the biggest films- Thank God and Ram Setu clashing with each other. On one side its Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakulpreet Singh. While on the other, it’s Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Nushrratt Bharuccha.
But the question is- which tripple steller cast will create its magic on the ticket window? Earlier it was seen that it is the family entertainers that work in Diwali. Therefore, can Thank God and Ram Setu make up for a Diwali Dhamaka this year?
Well, early trends in advance bookings show Ram Setu ahead of Thank God. The Akshay Kumar starrer has collected worth Rs 11.10 lakhs on Day 1 of Advance Booking. Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra starrer on the other, sold tickets worth 8.20 lakhs so far.
More three days to go, it will be interesting to see if the trend shuffles or remains the same.
Meanwhile, film distributor and analyst Raj Bansal said, “There is no excitement around both the films and the audience have not been going to the theatres like they used to. The content of the films is a big factor. It’s always the family entertainment films that work on Diwali. So out of the two, I feel Thank God will take over Ram Setu.”
Talking to a media house, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta says, “But it’s just that they are not coming with enough pomp and show that a Diwali release usually has.”
