This Diwali, two very different films are set to clash at the box office. Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma mixes romance, comedy, and horror, while Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is a romantic drama. Both movies hit theatres on October 21, and advance bookings have already begun.
According to Sacnilk, the romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is seeing slow progress in advance bookings, trailing behind Thamma, which has generated stronger pre-release buzz.
Box office prediction day 1:
Film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi predicted that Thamma could open around Rs 20 crore, while Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyatmight spring a surprise thanks to its popular music. “Thamma is tuned to open at Rs 20 crores possibly. As for Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, there’s a serious undercurrent to it which is courtesy the music of the film. Day 1 of Deewaniyat can prove to be a head-turning surprise,” he said.
Producer and analyst Girish Johar estimated that the box office could reach a total capacity of Rs 50-75 crore, with Thamma expected near the Rs 20 crore mark and Deewaniyat potentially hitting double digits if it performs well.
