Taylor Swift’s new album, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’, is officially out and has already started trending within a few hours. She has taken over the social media and music streaming platforms as fans listen to her songs. There are a total of 12 songs in the album, with one track in collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter. The cover for ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ showcases Taylor Swift’s boldest and most glamorous look to date. Talking about the song, its first track, ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ takes the reference of a popular character, Ophelia, from William Shakespeare’s hit play ‘Hamlet’. The second track, ‘Elizabeth Taylor’, is named after the popular actress Elizabeth Taylor.
‘Father Figure’ is a reference to George Michael’s hit song of the same name. It was released in 1987 and was a part of his album ‘Faith’.
Announcing the release of ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’, Taylor Swift penned a note on Instagram. She wrote, “Tonight all these lives converge here, The mosaics of laughter and cocktails of tears, Where fraternal souls sing identical things And it’s beautiful. It’s rapturous. It is frightening. I can’t tell you how proud I am to share this with you, an album that just feels so right. A forever thank you goes out to my mentors and friends Max and Shellback for helping me paint this self portrait. If you thought the big show was wild, perhaps you should come and take a look behind the curtain… The Life of a Showgirl is out now.”
According to Forbes, ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ is expected to break several records. Her last album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department, ‘ sold around 2.61 million in its first week in the US. Meanwhile, the new album also created a new record of five million pre-saves.
