From Joe Alwyn romance to Scotter Braun fallout, let’s look at what fans theorised about Swift’s Midnights.
What clues surround Midnights?
In the song titled, ‘Snow on the Beach’ Taylor made a reference to Janet Jackson. The lyrics goes: “But your eyes are flying saucers from another planet / Now I’m all for you like Janet / Can this be a real thing? Can it?” For the unreversed, All For You is a 2001 pop song by Jackson that’s all about being swept up in a relationship. Jackson has also reacted to Taylor by name-dropping her as she wrote, ” I luv it.”
In another song Lavender Haze, she slightly mentions her private romantic relationship with Joe Alwyn. In Snow on the Beach as well, Taylor seems to mention her relationship with Joe.
Fans have also found references to her past romance with John Mayer. Vigilante S**t is Taylor’s eighth track off her latest album Midnights. In the song, Taylor sings about taking on revenge on men, which fans theorise is a Scooter Braun reference.
A part of Vigilante S**t as per fans makes a reference to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s divorce. Fans believe Taylor sings about the duo when she says, “Now she gets the house, gets the kids, gets the pride / Picture me, thick as thieves with your ex-wife. And she looks so pretty / Driving in your Benz.”
