New Delhi: Mayilsamy was a Tamil comedian who worked with the A-list of Tamil film stars. His death on February 19th shocked the Tamil cinema industry, and celebrities expressed their condolences on social media.
Mayilsamy was a stand-up comedian, television host, and theatrical artist. Dhool, Vaseegara, Ghilli, Giri, Uthamaputhiran, Veeram, Kanchana, and Kangalal Kaidhu Sei are among his well-known parts. In fact, for Kangalal Kaidhu Sei, he received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian. He has recently appeared in films like Nenjuku Needhi, Veetla Vishesham, and The Legend. The comedian was also a regular guest judge on Sun TV’s Asathapovathu Yaaru.
Celebs, and politicians mourn Mylaswamy’s demise
Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan called him a dear friend in his tweet as did actor Sarath Kumar.
His tweet in English read, “My friend Mylaswamy is successful in presenting his own style of comedy acting. He is thought by many to be helpful. A tribute to a dear friend #Mayilsamy.”

Since he was active in state politics, even Tamil leaders were aware of him. The actor’s political interest was remembered by TTV Dhinakaran, founding general secretary of Amma Makkal Munneetra Kazagam (AMMK), in a tweet expressing his condolences. He mentioned Amma Jayalalithaa’s high regard for him.
M K Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, also offered his sympathies to the grieving family and recalled how his father, Kalaignar Karunanidhi, had praised Mayilsamy in the past. He claimed that Mayilsamy was renowned for his capacity to persuade others through fierce discussion.
The Tamil humorist was a longtime admirer of M G Ramachandran, an illustrious actor and politician who is the leader of the AIADMK, according to O Panneerselvam (OPS), a member of the party.
