New Delhi: A fairly shocking development is that Manobala, a renowned Tamil actor and director, died on May 3. He had been receiving therapy at his home for the last two weeks for liver-related problems. The 69-year-old Manobala is survived by his wife and son.
As soon as the news surfaced, celebrities from the Tamil cinema industry expressed their condolences on Twitter. While Rajinikanth, Ilaiyaraaja, Sathyaraj, and others expressed their sorrow over his passing, actor-director GM Kumar was one of the first to share the news.

Veteran Tamil actor and filmmaker Manobala has passed away. The seasoned actor was well-known for his impeccable comic timing and self-deprecating wit in addition to his directing work. Following the tragic news of his death, celebrities including Rajinikanth, Ilaiyaraaja, Sathyaraj, Gautham Karthik, Venkat Prabhu, and others expressed their deepest sympathies on Twitter.
Rajinikanth wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the passing away of my dear friend Manophala, a famous director and actor. My condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace (loosely translated in English from Tamil).”
