Popular Tamil actor and comedian Madhan Bob passed away on Saturday evening at his residence in Adyar. He was 71 and had been battling cancer, according to a source close to the family.
Born S. Krishnamoorthy, Madhan Bob was the eighth child in his family and rose to fame in the Tamil film industry with his funny expressions and unique comic style. Over the years, he shared the frame with some of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, including Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Ajith, Vijay, and Suriya.
ANI confirmed the news in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Tamil actor, comedian, music composer, and television personality S. Krishnamoorthy, professionally known as Madhan Bob, passed away in Chennai last night.”

Apart from films, he also became a household name through television. He was a familiar face on the hit Sun TV comedy show Asatha Povathu Yaaru, where he served as one of the judges. Beyond acting, he was also a trained musician.
Some of his most iconic roles include Diamond Babu in Thenali and Manager Sundaresan in Friends.
