Tabassum Govil passes away: Popular actress Tabassum Govil passes away last evening due to cardiac arrest. The veteran actor was popularly known for her show ”Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan.” The actress’s family will schedule a prayer meeting on November 21 at Arya Samaj at Linking Road, Santacruz.

Tabassum’s career
Tabassum made her debut with the film Nargis (1947) as a child artist. She also appeared in films like Mera Suhaag (1947), Manjhdhar (1947), Bari Behen (1949), Chhoti Bhabhi (1950), and Sargam (1950).
The actress has hosted the first talk show on Indian television, ”Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan.” The show ran for 21 years from 1972 to 1993. This show was produced by Doordarshan Kendra Mumbai. This show was based on interviews with film celebrities and became immensely popular.
Back in 1985, she wrote, directed, and produced the film, Tum Par Hum Qurban. She returned to television in 2006 with the show Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Raadha, Ek Shyaam, produced by Rajshri Productions. She also became a judge in a reality stand-up comedy show Ladies Special (2009) on Zee TV.
Currently, she launched her own channel on YouTube, titled “Tabassum Talkies.” The show consists of nostalgic talks, interviews with celebrities, shayaris, jokes and more.
Tabassum’s personal life
The actress was married to Vijay Govil, who was the elder brother of TV actor Arun Govil. Her son Hoshang Govil has a brief career. His first film Tum Par Hum Qurbaan (1985) was produced and directed by his mother Tabassum.
