Taare Zameen Par Star Darsheel Safary Recalls Impact Of The Film; Says ‘People Started Chanting My Name…’

Darsheel Safary reflects on his journey from childhood superstardom to adulthood, admitting that the transition wasn’t easy.

Darsheel Safary, who turned 28 on March 9, celebrated his birthday with those who matter most to him and shared that, “Birthdays are always special, but I love keeping things simple. I spent time with family and close friends, had a nice dinner, and enjoyed a relaxed hangout so, nothing too extravagant. For me, it’s all about being around the people who truly matter.”

How Darsheel’s Life Changed Since Taare Zameen Par

Darsheel aka Ishaan Awasthi shared, “My teeth are definitely different now! But honestly, everything has changed. I’ve grown as a person, as an actor, and as someone who’s constantly learning. Life’s been a journey from school to college to exploring different roles in films, web shows and theatre. The biggest change is probably my perspective. I now understand the value of patience, persistence, and staying grounded.”

Being mobbed like a superstar at the age of 10 was not easy for Darsheel. On this the actor said, “It was overwhelming at first. Imagine going from being a regular school kid to suddenly being recognized everywhere. People wanted pictures and autographs it was surreal. But my parents kept me grounded, and school helped a lot too. My teachers and friends treated me normally, which was a blessing. They ensured I didn’t lose touch with my childhood. I remember one time when I was at a mall with my mom, and a huge crowd suddenly gathered. People started chanting my name, and some even tried to hug me. I was just a kid, so it felt crazy. My mom had to literally pull me out of there! Moments like those made me realize the impact the film had.”

Darsheel admits that following up on his early superstardom into adulthood has not been easy and said, “I believe every experience good or bad shapes you. I’ve had my highs and lows, but I’m grateful for the journey. After Taare Zameen Par, I focused on my studies, which was important. Now, I’m exploring a variety of roles films, web shows, and theatre and I’m loving the creative freedom.

So yes, I’m quite content with where things are headed. I’ve got some exciting projects lined up! There are three films coming up where I’m working alongside actors like Raghubir Yadav, Abhishek Banerjee, Ananth Mahadevan, Pratik Gandhi and Adah Sharma. I’ve also finished a web show for Amazon, produced by Abhinay Deo, which was an amazing experience. I’m just excited to keep experimenting and growing as an actor.”
