Priyanka Chopra has always impressed the audience with her performances but her role in the 2004 film ‘Aitraaz’ is a fan-favourite. She was seen as an antagonist and despite playing a negative, the actress received immense praise from the audience. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai earlier announced ‘Aitraaz 2’ and has revealed that he is in the process of finalising a female lead. As per the latest reports, Taapsee Pannu has been approached for the movie.
According to report by India Today, Taapsee is being considered for the lead role. A source was quoted as saying, “From what we hear, Taapsee has been given a script reading for ‘Aitraaz 2’, but there’s no confirmation on her end or from the production team yet. Right now, it’s all speculation, but if she does come on board, it will be exciting to watch.”
Earlier, announcing the movie on X, Subhash Ghai wrote, “BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL PRIYANKA CHOPRA DARED N DID IT. That’s why cine lovers can not forget her performance even today in #AITRAZ – produced my Mukta arts. When she was too apprehensive to do this role of ambitious woman. While speaking to Hindustan Times, the filmmaker revealed that the character will also be bold like Priyanka’s role. He shared, “We do have a wish list, but let’s see who will be finalised. It will be a bold role again which I am sure will get a lot of awards for the actor, as it did for Priyanka.” He called the sequel better than ‘Aitraaz’.

He will collaborate with Amit Rai, the director of ‘OMG 2’ and ‘Badhaai Ho’, for ‘Aitraaz 2’. He further told Hindustan Times, “I’ve heard a fantastic script from Amit Rai, the writer-director of Oh My God 2, which has been written as Aitraaz 2 now. We are getting so many calls from various studios that they are interested in making the film. And I must say that Amit again has a big hit script with him at the moment. I really loved it.”
‘Aitraaz’ also starred Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles. The movie revolves around a married man, who gets falsely accused of sexually harassing his female superior.
