New Delhi: Swara Bhaskar recently opened up about the ongoing Boycott Bollywood trend. Earlier, speaking on the same, the actress said that celebrities were a soft target of criticism.
Swara has now spoken about netizens slamming Karan Johar and tagging him as a murderer after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
The actress said criticizing Karan for his films or for promoting ‘nepotism’ was one thing, but calling him a ‘murderer’ after Sushant died was not fair. In a recent interview, she said that the film industry was ‘under attack.’

Swara Bhaskar told Connect FM Canada in Hindi, “There’s an atmosphere of fear. In the industry… there is this idea of not engaging in controversy. There is a genuine belief in the industry that if there’s a controversy happening, it’s best not to bother or comment on it.”
The Veere Di Wedding actress said, “Aapko Karan Johar ki filmein ghatia lag sakti hain, uske nepotism se dikkat ho sakti hai. Lekin aapki dikkat aur aapki dislike ka matlab ye nahin hai ki vo kaatil hai (You may dislike Karan Johar’s films, and might have a problem with his nepotism promotion. But your dislike and issue with him does not mean that he is a murderer).”
Swara Bhasker is known to be one of the most opinionated actresses in Bollywood. She has been always vocal about pressing issues in the country. She doesn’t shy away from calling ‘a spade, a spade.’
