New Delhi: Boycott Bollywood now seems to be a common culture among netizens, as they hold the trend for almost every major release- be it Laal Singh Chaddha or Raksha Bandhan, or Pathaan.
Swara Bhaskar has come forward with her opinion on the boycott trend and said that it has started ever since the demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Speaking about the boycott trends in a recent interview, she said that social media users want to bring down Bollywood and call it stupid names. Swara Bhaskar said that she finds it disgusting as the haters forget that Bollywood gives a livelihood to many.
Further talking on the Bollywood Vs South debate, Swara said, “You’re hearing about those that are becoming a hit. That said, even Bollywood has had Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Gangubai in the last year. I feel let’s acknowledge the slump is happening across. I think there’s no one reason but there are many reasons.”
Meanwhile, at the trailer launch of her upcoming film, ‘Jahaan Chaar Yaar,’ Swara affirmed, “This is a story about women who haven’t had the privilege of living in a cosmopolitan setup, women belonging to the entire South Asian belt. There’s hypocrisy even in the way people think. The entire film is about the double standards these four women adhere to, and the realization that follows.
Swara Bhasker is known to be one of the most opinionated actresses in Bollywood. She has been always vocal about pressing issues in the country. She doesn’t shy away from calling ‘a spade, a spade.’
On the work front, Swara Bhasker will be seen in Jahaan Chaar Yaar. The movie will also stars Meher Vij, Pooja Chopra, Shikha Talsania. It has been written by Kamal Pandey and produced by Vinod Bachchan.
