Following the release of his film Kanguva on November 14, Suriya faced a minor setback but quickly moved on to focus on new projects. Recently, he made his first public appearance since the release at the audio launch of Vanangaan in Chennai.

Suriya’s Journey With Bala
At the event, Suriya reflected on the pivotal role director Bala has played in his career. He shared memories from 2000 when Bala first reached out to him, announcing that they would collaborate on a film together. This conversation changed Suriya’s career trajectory forever. He highlighted how learning from Bala on sets of Pithamagan was instrumental in shaping him as an actor. Suriya credited Bala for discovering his talent, which led to a series of successful films including Nandha, Kaakha Kaakha, Ghajini, and Vaaranam Aayiram.

Vanangaan: A New Chapter In Tamil Cinema
Vanangaan, an upcoming action drama film directed by Bala, is an important project for Suriya. Initially announced in 2022 with Suriya as the producer under 2D Entertainment, the film underwent changes with Arun Vijay stepping in to replace him. Krithi Shetty was also replaced by Roshni Prakash. Filming for Vanangaan began in March 2023 and concluded in April 2024. The music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar, and Gurudev and Sathish Suriya handle cinematography and editing. The film is scheduled for a January 10, 2025, release.

Alongside promoting Vanangaan, Suriya is also working on his 45th film with RJ Balaji, which reunites him with Trisha after 20 years.
