The official synopsis of Supergirl reads, “When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.”
Apart from Milly Alcock, the movie also stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa.
Directed by Craig Gillespie, the screenplay is by Ana Nogueira. Peter Safran and James Gunn serve as the producers with Nigel Gostelow, Chantal Nong Vo and Lars P. Winther as executive producers.
Supergirl was first introduced in Superman’s post-credit scene, where the two characters were seen together. The viewers got the gist of Supergirl’s characteristics.
Talking about Superman, the movie stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult. Rachel plays Lois Lane, a journalist and Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman’s love interest. Nicholas plays Lex Luthor, the film’s antagonist, who hates Superman.
While speaking to GQ, David revealed that he was initially hesitant to take on the iconic role of Superman. He shared, “A role like Superman seems like something that everybody would want, and that’s not true. There are some people who wouldn’t want that role and who would, if given the opportunity, say no. I am obviously not one of those people. But I certainly tried to think of reasons not to.”
He added, “Ultimately, what I landed on for myself was, if this is the only role I get to play for the rest of my life, and that means whether I get to play it once or get to play it 10 times, would I still say yes? And the answer was yes.”
