This festive season, Bollywood’s only Hindi release is Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, a romantic comedy featuring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf. However, the film faces tough competition at the box office from the South, with Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 the much anticipated prequel to the 2022 hit.
With both films clashing for audience attention, trade experts and film analysts are closely watching how the opening day collections will shape up.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari box office prediction day 1:
According to Sacnilk, advance bookings for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari are expected to stay below Rs 3 crore. This means the film will rely mostly on walking audiences and spot bookings. Since its release falls on Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti, more people are likely to come in as the day goes on. Current estimates put the opening day collection at around Rs 8-10 crore.
About Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari
The movie is directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan under Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment present. It also stars Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra.
Kantara Chapter 1 box office prediction day 1:
The original Kantara was a massive pan India hit, earning Rs 162 crore net in Kannada, Rs 84 crore in Hindi, and Rs 63 crore across Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, even though its release was staggered. The Kannada version came out first, with dubbed versions arriving two weeks later. This time, Kantara Chapter 1 is releasing in all five languages on the same day, which is expected to boost its opening. Trade experts predict a Rs 30+ crore net opening in India, with more optimistic estimates going up to Rs 40 crore.
The Hindi version alone is expected to bring in around Rs 15-17 crore, slightly lower than earlier hopes of Rs 25 crore.
Even so, a Rs 35-40 crore opening would make Kantara Chapter 1 the biggest Bollywood release of the year, surpassing Saiyaara (Rs 22 crore), Sikandar (Rs 26 crore), and Chhaava (Rs 31 crore). However, it still falls short compared to major pan India releases like Pawan Kalyan’s OG (Rs 84 crore) and Rajinikanth’s Coolie (Rs 65 crore).
About Kantara Chapter 1
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the prequel explores the mythological origins of the story told in Kantara. Set ten centuries before the events of the first film, it features Shetty in a new role alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah.
