Sunny Leone cheating case: Kerala HC stays proceeding against actress, husband Daniel

New Delhi: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday stayed the criminal proceedings against actress Sunny Leone and her husband Daniel Weber on a 2019 cheating case. A case was registered against Sunny Leone and her husband by an event company back in 2019.

According to the complaint, the actor allegedly failed to attend Valentine’s Day function in Kochi in 2019 after accepting a payment of around Rs 29 lakh.

Subsequently, a case was registered against the couple alleging commission of offences punishable under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating and dishonesty inducing delivery of property) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

Sunny Leone and Daniel Weber filed a petition at the Kerala HC. They urged that the criminal case against her, husband Daniel and one of her employee’s be quashed.

In her plea, the actress has refused the allegations against her, her husband and their employee.

Acting upon the petition, the court today stayed the proceedings. Although the event company alleged cheating, Sunny maintained that she had come twice and the event was not held.

Meanwhile, Sunny Leone’s ‘bold’ photo appeared on the entrance test admit card of a competitive exam. A candidate sitting for Karnataka Teachers Eligibility Test (TET-2022) landed in trouble when her hall ticket featured a photo of Sunny Leone.
