Sunny Leone Birthday Special: Actress Opens Up On Work-Life Balance, Says Family Comes Before Fame

On her birthday, Sunny Leone opens up about balancing career and motherhood, choosing family over constant work.

Sunny Leone appears to be amongst a handful of people who seemingly have no regrets about her life journey. The portrait she and her supremely supportive spouse Daniel Weber have painted in the last ten years is that of a decorous professional, devoted wife, and doting mother. It is a wholesome kind of image that sells breakfast cereals, not condoms.

Sunny’s pillar of strength is her husband Daniel Weber. He gave up his thriving family business in the US to be with Sunny wherever she chose to go. If she participated in adult content, so be it. Daniel became part of the erotic enterprise only so that he could partner with Sunny both on and off screen. Theirs is one of the rarest of rare successful marriages in Bollywood.

Sunny met Daniel in Las Vegas. He was based in New York. She didn’t think at that time that anything would come of their relationship because they lived in different cities in the US. But Daniel didn’t give up easily. He bombarded Sunny with flowers, chocolates, and gifts all over the world wherever she happened to be. He would fly in from anywhere in the world to meet her.

They eventually got married. Sunny has happily allowed Daniel to take full control of her life.

Daniel is always there every step of the way, whether it is the children’s meals, snacks, or bedtime. He is home whenever she is working. Sunny and Daniel had children on the condition that one or the other parent would always be with them.

Says Sunny, “Our children are our world. Daniel and I want to be the best possible parents to our three children. My birthday makes me happy because it makes my children happy. Yes, at times it can definitely be a handful because I’ve twin toddler boys and a daughter who has her opinions and wants to do her own things. But it’s amazing to watch them grow every single day. I manage them with a timetable. Everything is done according to schedules. There are the children’s nannies to help me and everything happens on time almost magically. There’s no time to think about everything NOT being managed… Their food, school work, arts and crafts, clothes… everything has to be managed on time.

Is Sunny working less on account of her children? “It’s not a conscious decision to cut down my work. Rather, my husband and I manage our schedules in such a way that one of us is home for the children at any given time. The idea is for both of us to spend as much time as possible. Of course, there are days when I can’t see them when I am out of Mumbai. So yes, we just need to constantly figure out how to spend maximum time with them. I am a very lucky wife who has a very hands-on husband. Daniel is always there every step of the way, whether it is the children’s meals, snacks, or bedtime. He is there. We’re in this together. We didn’t have children on the condition that one of us would raise them alone. We had children because we both really, really wanted them. We also know that the first five years of their lives are the most important. This is when they form their best bonds with their parents and siblings. So it’s important to have the family together. I don’t know how to even begin describing all the amazing places we’ve visited, all the things we’ve done. It’s been such an amazing journey through the ups and downs and the crazies. It’s been a great journey so far.”
