The rights to Madhur Bhandarkar’s iconic and National Award-winning film Chandni Bar are being sold. This exclusive news has been confirmed with the buyer – none other than The Kerala Story director, Sudipto Sen.
When contacted, Sudipto Sen said, “I am in talks with the film’s co-producer R Mohan about this. But I can talk about it only next week. Some legal formalities remain to be completed.”
Interestingly, Sudipto also revealed that he is keen on making Chandni Bar 2. Reports suggest that the deal for the film’s rights has been closed for around Rs. 1.75 crore.

Who Will Direct The Sequel?
Earlier, there were rumours that Mohan Azaad, who wrote the dialogues and screenplay of Chandni Bar, would direct the second part. But with Sudipto now involved, there is curiosity around whether he will take on the director’s role himself — or if Madhur Bhandarkar might return as the director.
Will Tabu Return?
Another big question is whether Tabu, who delivered a memorable performance in the original film, will reprise her role in the sequel.
Despite sending a message to Madhur Bhandarkar, the director chose not to comment on the development. Fans will have to wait and see how this exciting story unfolds.
