Stree 2 Surpasses Gadar 2 Opening Day Collections
Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, had an exceptional opening at the box office on Independence Day, exceeding all expectations. The film’s opening day collections have surpassed those of 2023’s hit Gadar 2, which earned Rs 40.1 crore on its debut. Stree 2 had preview screenings on Wednesday evening and a full release on Thursday. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 54.35 crore over these two days, with early estimates suggesting Rs 46 crore from Thursday and Rs 8.35 crore from Wednesday evening shows.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, this is the highest-grossing opener of the year so far. Previously, the top Hindi opener of the year was Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, which earned Rs 24.6 crore on its opening day in January. Kalki 2898 AD, which was released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, had a record-breaking opening day with Rs 95 crore, making it the biggest Indian opener of the year.
