Netflix has announced a Tamil psychological thriller movie ‘Stephen’, which promises a dark murder mystery to the audience. The makers have officially unveiled the film’s trailer, giving a glimpse of a dark, tense atmosphere with mystery, emotional depth and unsettling secrets.

The trailer starts in a tense and dark atmosphere, with a man sitting calmly in a police station to confess his crime. Stephens claims responsibility for the disappearances of nine girls, but as the trailer progresses, it becomes clear that the story may not be as straightforward as it seems. The video sets a psychological atmosphere, using a double-paced, suspenseful tone and a haunting background score to match the rhythm of the story.
Viewers can expect a gripping, slow-burning mystery that challenges assumptions and morality. The lead actor, Gomathi Shankar, looks calm and secretive in the trailer, as he delivers a performance of quiet intensity and a character-driven thriller that explores guilt, acceptance and the nature of truth.

Stephen will release on Netflix worldwide on December 5, 2025, in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Gomathi Shankar expressed himself, while talking about his first lead role, he says, “This is my very first film, and it can’t get better than this! Stephen isn’t your usual lead – he’s layered, unpredictable, and always keeps you guessing. Stepping into his world was exciting, challenging, and satisfying. Co-writing the film made it a tad bit easier to adapt. I owe a lot to my director, Mithun for trusting me with such a complex role and guiding me through it and Netflix for offering a global stage for us to showcase our talent. I’m so glad my journey begins with a film and character like Stephen, streaming on a global platform like Netflix.”
