Fans of Squid Game have been eagerly theorising about the possible connection between the Front Man, Hwang In-ho, and Player 001, Oh Il-nam, after the second season revealed In-ho’s surprising participation in the deadly games. However, a popular theory linking the two characters has recently been debunked.

Season 2 Twist: Front Man’s Secret Role

In the latest season of Squid Game, a shocking twist revealed that Hwang In-ho, the previous season’s Front Man, is secretly taking part in the game and potentially sabotaging the competition from within. This revelation led fans to speculate that In-ho and Oh Il-nam, who was revealed as the creator of the games in Season 1, may be connected.

One fan theory aimed to link In-ho and Il-nam through a seemingly innocent moment in Season 2. During a lunch break after a challenge, In-ho offers his carton of milk to his pregnant teammate, Kim Jun-hee, claiming he won’t drink it. This act of kindness sparked a connection with an off-hand comment made by Il-nam in Season 1, where he mentioned that his son was lactose intolerant. Fans speculated that this could be evidence of a father-son relationship between In-ho and Il-nam.

Debunking The Theory

The theory quickly gained traction, especially after a screengrab from Season 1 was shared on Reddit, showing Il-nam telling Gi-hun that his son was lactose intolerant. However, the dialogue was misinterpreted. In fact, in Season 1, Il-nam actually jokes that Gi-hun was like his son, who had a similar personality, and does not mention lactose intolerance. Moreover, In-ho’s statement in Season 2 is simply that he doesn’t drink plain milk, not that he is lactose intolerant.

Even if the theory about lactose intolerance were true, it remains a weak link between the two characters. Fans have pointed out that this detail is trivial and doesn’t provide enough evidence to support the theory of a familial connection between In-ho and Il-nam.

While fans continue to pour over every detail of Squid Game for clues, this particular theory about the Front Man and Il-nam’s relationship has been thoroughly debunked. The supposed evidence, including the lactose intolerance connection, was either misinterpreted or fabricated, leaving the theory as improbable as ever.
