Yoon Seok-Hwa, a renowned South Korean actress, passed away at the age of 69. She reportedly took her last breath at 9:54 am in Seoul’s private hospital. She was suffering from brain cancer and underwent three major surgeries for her treatment. She refused to do chemotherapy and chose surgery and natural healing methods for treatment.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will award a cultural order posthumously to Yoon Seok-Hwa. The statement read, “The deceased appeared in numerous works and showed a broad range of acting, and won multiple theater awards and the Baeksang Arts Awards, and has been regarded as an actor representing Korea’s performing arts scene.”
Yoon Seok-Hwa was born in 1956 in Seoul. She stepped into the world of theatres in 1975 by debuting with the play Honey Taste. She also worked in Agnes of God, Hamlet, and Letter to My Daughter.
She is survived by her husband, who is a former JoongAng General Finance CEO, Kim Seok-ki, a son, and a daughter.
