New Delhi: The first teaser for the upcoming series Soup starring Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sen Sharma was released on Saturday. A great ensemble cast lends support to the dark comedic thriller, and the surreal trailer raised a few eyebrows and piqued viewers’ interest. The show is directed by Abhishek Chaubey of Udta Punjab and Ishqiya fame.

A Victorian-era art portrait of Manoj Bajpayee with its eyes taken out and someone prying from behind opens the quick one-minute teaser. The main characters are subsequently introduced in a montage, featuring a bleeding Manoj wearing an eyepatch, a bewildered-looking Nasser, and a cunning Konkona Sen Sharma. “If, by some chance, this works out, just image, you will have everything and we will be married,” Konkona can be heard saying in the background. This comes after a puzzling image with two Manojs in the same picture.

More shots of cutting up vegetables, fish, and meat can be seen in several kitchens, along with plenty of PDA between the lead couple as Konkona continues to explain her plan to replace her husband with her boyfriend. Fans praised the teaser for being both intriguing and perplexing. One person wrote, “Ok, I have no idea what is going on and I adore it.” “Two legend actors together it will blockbuster,” read another comment.

The show’s official synopsis read: “In a quest to get her restaurant, talentless chef Swathi Shetty cooks up a master plan to replace her husband Prabhakar with her lover, Umesh. But when a bumbling local inspector and a few amateur villains get involved, too many cooks threaten to spoil the broth.”
