Actors Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala made headlines with their marriage, which took place on December 4 at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. Before becoming a couple, they had been dating for over two years and kept their relationship secret. In a conversation with the New York Times, they shared insights about their journey together and how speaking the same language helped deepen their connection.
How did the couple first meet?
The couple first met at Chaitanya’s father, Nagarjuna Akkineni’s residence in 2018. She was invited by the senior actor who appreciated her performance in the 2018 film ‘Goodachari’. But they first interacted in 2022, a year after Chaitanya divorced his then-wife, Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Their conversation began when Dhulipala replied to Chaitanya’s Instagram story regarding a sushi place in Hyderabad. They soon started bonding because of their common native language, Telugu.

The couple shared some heartwarming details about their first trip together, which occurred during the summer at Bandipur National Park in Karnataka. They enjoyed the company of Naga Chaitanya’s friends on this getaway. During their time together, they connected through fun activities like playing chess and decorating each other’s hands with mehendi designs. “He’s a doer, I’m a be-er. I’m the fluttering kite, and he’s the anchor. Our dissimilarities really kept us interested and curious about each other,” Sobhita added.
