The much awaited wedding of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been abruptly put on hold following an unexpected medical emergency in the Mandhana family. Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack during the ongoing preparations at their Samdol farmhouse in Sangli, confirmed her business manager, Tuhin Mishra.
He was rushed to a private hospital in Sangli, where he is currently receiving critical care. Family insiders revealed that Smriti and her close relatives immediately left the wedding venue to be by his side at the hospital.
In a brief update, the family shared that Srinivas Mandhana is stable and under close observation, providing some reassurance amid the crisis.
A family aide Tuhin Mishra on Sunday evening said that the marriage has been postponed. “Smriti’s father was taken ill during breakfast. After that an ambulance was called and rushed to hospital where he is under observation,” he said, adding that because of this reason, the marriage has been postponed as per the wishes of Smriti. “At this junction, we will like that we respect the privacy of the family,” he said.
The couple, who have reportedly been together since 2019, was set to tie the knot on November 23. Earlier, a video of Palash proposing to Smriti at the DY Patil Stadium had gone viral, where he went down on one knee with a bouquet and a diamond ring, asking her to marry him.
