Aamir Khan will soon return to the big screens with his movie ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ and gave a big update about the project at the film festival. The actor attended the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah and talked about his upcoming films. He revealed that ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ will arrive in theatres next year.
While speaking to Deadline, Aamir shared, “We are coming to the post production later this month. We would be ready to release the film (Sitaare Zameen Par) in the middle of next year.” He clarified that the movie is not a sequel to his hit film ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and said, “It’s a fresh set of characters, completely fresh situation and plot. Thematically, it is a sequel to Taare Zameen Par.”
He spoke about his upcoming projects and revealed he will soon work with Sunny Deol for ‘Lahore 1947’ and with actor-director Vir Das. He will produce his son Junaid’s upcoming film ‘Ek Din’, also starring Sai Pallavi.
In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Aamir talked about why he almost quit films. He shared that he was consumed by his work and felt he was not there for his family. He shared, “I have spent a bulk of my adult life, from the time I became an assistant at 18, right up to now. All of my bandwidth, my focus has been films and cinema. As a result, it made me feel, perhaps I have not been there enough for my relationships, my kids, siblings, whether it was Kiran, when I was married to her, or Reena (Dutta) when I was married to her.”

He added, “I felt a lot of guilt and didn’t feel good about what I had done. So, it was an emotional reaction for me to say I am quitting films. I was grateful that I realized this at the age of 56-57 and didn’t realize it at 88, because then there is nothing you can do about it. At least now I can do something.”
On the work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’.
