Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again features an ensemble cast comprising Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Kareena Kapoor Khan, alongside the much-talked cameo by Salman Khan. The buzz about a star-studded cast helped the film get the audience’s attention and it worked in its favour.
Ajay Devgn-starrer opened on a great note at the box office and it isn’t slowing down despite receiving harsh reviews from critics as well as audience. The second weekend collection touched Rs 47 crore mark on Thursday, taking the overall numbers to Rs 220.6 crore.
The third instalment of Singham franchise was released on Diwali, November 1, alongside Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Despite the tough competition, it minted Rs 43.5 crore on Day 1. By the end of week 1, the film made a total of Rs 173 crore.
With phenomenal response at the box office, Singham Again has become Ajay Devgn’s third highest grossing film of all time. The first and the second spot are secured by Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Drishyam 2, which minted Rs 239 crore and Rs 277 crore, respectively.
Ajay expressed happiness over Singham Again’s success and said, “I am thankful to the audience for giving us so much love. For a long time, the police were always shown in a negative light in films. Singham, as well as Gangaajal, was one of the first films that showed how an ideal police officer should be. After that, it became a trend of making positive films about police.”
Golmaal 5 Announced!
Meanwhile, Ajay and Rohit are set to revive their popular comedy franchise Golmaal. The highly-awaited fifth installment of the will be Rohit’s next big project and the official announcement was made by the ace director during an interview with Pinkvilla.
While discussing his forthcoming projects, Rohit said that he plans to dive into the comedy genre before returning to action films, which have been his focus lately. “I think before any cop film for sure, Golmaal will be the next.”
