Singer Irene Cara dies at 63, Jennifer Aniston to Lenny Kravitz, celebs pay tribute

New Delhi: Fame and Flashdance’s singer Irene Cara dies at the age of 63. The news of her death has been confirmed by her publicist in a post, “Irene’s family has requested privacy as they process their grief. She was a beautifully gifted soul whose legacy will live forever through her music and films.”

The late singer lent her voice to the title song Fame. The track went on to be nominated for an Academy Award for best original song. Out Here on My Own, another number from Fame was sung by Cara. Later, the singer worked on her famous Flashdance number.

Celebs mourn the death of Irene Cara

Mourning the demise of Irene Cara, the music fraternity paid their tribute. Singer Lenny Kravitz took to the Twiiter handle and wrote, “Irene Cara, you inspired me more than you could ever know. Your songwriting and vocals created pure energy that will never cease. You also defined an era that is so close to my heart.”

Jennifer Ariston took to her Instagram story and reacted to Cara’s death. She wrote, “Oh boy Irene Cara [heartbreak emoji]. That movie. That song. That VOICE. That school. Those kids. Innocent and the whole world right in front of them. All of it sent me on my path. I was in. Sold. Hook line and sinker. RIP Irene.”

Questlove wrote on Twitter, “Why are the legends just….. evaporating? Like when I turn 65 will anyone I idolize ever know what it means to turn 80? S— will I?” Also, Flashdance star Jennifer Beals also took to Instagram to share a photo of herself with Cara from the 1984 Academy Awards ceremony.  In the captions, she wrote, “Thank you brilliant Irene for your open heart and your fearless triple-threat talent. It took a beautiful dreamer to write and perform the soundtracks for those who dare to dream.”
