The Moosewala family celebrated their late son Sidhu Moosewala’s younger brother, Shubhdeep’s first birthday on Monday. It was attended by close family and friends for an intimate celebration. Among those present were former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi who took to his social media to share the glimpse of the celebration.
Channi shared a video on Instagram where the little Shubhdeep was seen being held by his mother Charan Kaur as he was trying to cut his birthday cake. Families and friends cheered and clapped, while singing the birthday song making the moment even more memorable. Channi also tried feeding the toddler a slice of cake.
The little birthday boy looked adorable in black kurta-pyjama, with a pink turban. Balkaur Singh, father to both Sidhu and Shubhdeep, stood proudly alongside his wife and son during the cake cutting ceremony. The celebration also featured a large cutout of Sidhu Moosewala, along with colorful balloons giving a poignant tribute to the late artist.

Shubhdeep was born nearly a year after the tragic death of his older brother. When announcing the birth last year, Balkaur Singh had expressed gratitude on social media, writing in Punjabi “With the blessings of millions of souls who love Shubdeep, the Almighty has put Shubh’s younger brother in our lap. With the blessings of Waheguru, the family is healthy and I’m thankful to all the well-wishers for their immense love.”
Remembering Sidhu Moosewala
Sidhu Moosewala, a beloved Punjabi singer and rapper, was shot dead on May 29, 2022, in Mansa, Punjab. His assassination happened just a day after his security was withdrawn by the Punjab government.
