About Sholay
Jai and Veeru, two friends who used to be in prison, are hired by Thakur Baldev Singh, a retired police officer, to help capture Gabbar Singh, a notorious bandit terrorizing the village of Ramgarh. The movie was released on August 15, 1975. It was made on a budget of about 2 to 3 crore rupees but went on to earn a fantastic 35 crore rupees at the box office worldwide.
The movie turned out to be a huge success just two days after it came out. Director Ramesh Sippy shared this news on the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 15. Many people wondered how the film managed to become so popular despite a slow start at the box office. He replied, “I thought of making some changes in the film.” He suggested that it would be a good idea to wait for two more days to see the results. He mentioned that if the show doesn’t start off strong on the first day and doesn’t pick up afterwards, they might think about changing the scene.

By Monday, people were eagerly buying tickets, and it was clear that Sholay had become a classic in Hindi cinema.
