Renowned Indian singer Sharda Sinha breathed her last on Tuesday night, which coincided with the first day of Chhath Puja. Mourning the loss of his mother, son Anshuman Sinha told ANI that it’s a very sad time for their family.
“This is a sad time for us. She was very close to all of us. It was in her aura and singing that captivated everyone and this is a shocker for all of them. I am sure her loved ones will be as sad as me. Her motherhood was visible in her songs as well as in her personality. She left us on the first day of Chhath Puja. She will always be there in the hearts of people,” he shared hours after the demise.
Sharing details about the funeral, Anushaman said that Sharda’s mortal remains will be taken to their home state Patna, where the funeral will take place amid family and friends. “We have decided that the last rites of my mother (Sharda Sinha) will take place at the same place where my father’s last rite was performed. Therefore, we will take her mortal remains to Patna tomorrow.”
Anshuman also shared a post on his Instagram handle to aware her fans about the demise. Alongside her photo, he wrote, “Aap sab ki prarthna aur pyar hamesha Maa ke saath rahega. Maa ko Chhathi Maiya ne apne paas bula liya hai. Maa ab shareerik roop mein hum sab ke beech nahin rahin.”
Condolences Pour In
Meanwhile, actors, ministers and celebrities from all walks of time shared their emotions on Sharda’s death and paid their tribute.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed condolences and said, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of Shrimati Sharda Sinha ji. She was a multi-talented folk singer who made Bhojpuri language popular among the masses. People will remember her songs for a long time. With her demise, the world of folk music has lost an influential voice. In this hour of grief, I express my condolences to her bereaved family and fans. Om Shanti!”
Home Minister Amit Shah talked about her achievements and shared. “I am deeply saddened by the demise of Sharda Sinha ji, who gave new heights to Indian music with her melodious voice for more than five decades. Sharda Sinha ji, famous as Bihar Kokila, made Maithili and Bhojpuri folk songs popular among the masses and kept mesmerizing the film world as a playback singer.”
Manoj Tiwari, singer an politician, reached AIIMS to share his grief with the Sinha family. Remembering Sharda, he shared, “The demise of Sharda Sinha is an irreparable loss. Her family has decided to perform her last rites in Bihar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed his sorrow over her passing. I have spoken to the Bihar government, and her last rites will be performed with full state honors. This is a personal loss for me, as she had promised to visit my home, a promise that now remains unfulfilled. Sharda Sinha will always remain in our hearts. May God grant strength to her family and all those who loved her.”
A few days ago, Sharda’s son Anshuman had informed her fans that his mother is not doing well and has been put on ventilator support. She was battling with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, which was diagnosed in 2018. Her condition deteriorated on Monday, after which she was placed on a ventilator.
