Fauji 2: Filmmaker Sandeep Singh in collaboration with Doordarshan is bringing back the iconic show Fauji, which gave India entertainment industry its biggest superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The show will be revived for season 2 with a modern touch and leading the bandwagon will be Gauahar Khan and Vicky Jain. Besides them, 12 other actors will be introduced to the world of acting. The names include Aashish Bhardwaj, Utkarsh Kohli, Charkhi Dadri, Rudra Soni, Aman Singh Deep, Ayaan Manchanda, Niel Satpuda, Suvansh Dhar, Priyanshu Rajguru, Udit Kapur, Maansi, Sushmita Bhandari in key roles.
The announcement was made by the makers on social media platform. Taking to Instagram, Sandeep Singh shared a post – poster along with photos of the cast members. Alongside, he wrote, “The most prestigious show ever made in India is coming back! We are honored to bring you the return of the greatest show celebrating our real heroes – Fauji 2. Join us on this remarkable journey. Stay tuned for updates!”
The news, however, was not received well by the fans, who slammed the team for ruining an iconic show. Netizens’s primary problem seems to be with the casting. One of the users commented, “Lost intrest when I saw Vicky. Jain… I mean seriously.” Others wrote, “Vicky Jain agar hoga series mai toh satyanash confirm”, “Flop show rakho iss show ka naam”, “Hey bhagwaan bhai yehi mila barbaad mat karo bhai srk ki legacy ko.”
Another user asked makers not to link the stories of Fauji 1 and 2. He commented, “Please don’t relate the two !!! Dont spoil it !”
Many also felt that it’s a stupid idea to even recreate the show. “Another disaster on its way – I say chaps, this wasn’t called for. Why the hell someone wants to repeat a classic. It will be difficult for people to accept Fauji without Shahrukh,” wrote one person, while another commented, “Fauji 2 toh Le aaoge par @iamsrk kaha se laoge?”
When India Today interacted with the show’s director Sandeep Singh, he said, “We are bringing back one of the greatest shows ever seen on television but in a new and exciting version. The 1989 Fauji gave us Shahrukh Khan, an actor who captivated the entire nation not just with his unconventional looks but with his extraordinary energy and talent. With Fauji 2, I hope to recreate history and connect with every Indian, especially the youth.”
