Fauji Release Date: The iconic show Fauji, which launched Shah Rukh Khan’s acting career in 1989, is set to return to Indian television. This news comes days after the announcement of Season 2, which will introduce Bigg Boss 17 fame Vicky Jain as an actor, alongside Gauhar Khan.
The 13-episode series will air from Monday to Thursday, staring October 24, on Doordarshan channel. Kanchan Prasad, the Director General of Doordarshan, expressed enthusiasm about the re-airing, and said, “Fauji is a timeless classic that continues to resonate with audiences. As we look forward to Fauji 2, airing the original series is a perfect way to reconnect with the roots of this iconic show and celebrate its legacy before its next chapter unfolds.”
Fauji was a military-drama that showed life of a commando regiment – focusing on their training, their interactions with fellow soldiers, journey from being a fresher to a commanding officer, disciplinary actions taken by seniors and more. In the show. Shah Rukh played the character of Lt. Abhimanyu Rai along with actors Rakesh Sharma as Major Vikram ‘Vicky’ Rai, Amina Shervani as Kiran Kochar, Manjula Avtar as Captain Madhu Rathore. Not many know that Rakesh Sharma was finalised for the role that later went to Shah Rukh.
Fauji 2 in Making
Meanwhile, the shoot of Fauji 2 has begun in Pune. It will be a fresh take on military-life and will feature Gauhar Khan and Vicky Jain in lead. They will be accompanied by actors Ashish Bhardwaj, Utkarsh Kohli, Rudra Soni, Ayaan Manchanda, and Neel Satpura in crucial roles.
The announcement of the sequel was made by makers on social media platforms such as X and Instagram. Sandeep Singh, who will be donning the director’s hat, shared a post – poster along with photos of the cast members. Alongside, he wrote, “The most prestigious show ever made in India is coming back! We are honored to bring you the return of the greatest show celebrating our real heroes – Fauji 2. Join us on this remarkable journey. Stay tuned for updates!”
